Internship at Devens Recycling Center

Summer internships are currently available at Devens Recycling Center (DRC) located in Devens, MA

DRC is a 90,000 square foot newly built state of the art recycling center permitted to process construction and demolition debris.  Here at DRC we accept all types of construction and demolition debris such as wood, asphalt, concrete, metal, brick, gypsum, carpet and cardboard.  We separate the comingled debris by type and find viable secondary markets interested in using these raw materials to make new products.  This waste stream diversion is the primary function of our processing facility.

We are looking for students who have an interest in learning about recycling and waste diversion. Possible areas of study would include but not limited to the following topics:

• Get involved with an in-depth analysis and hands on experience of recycling processes
• Conduct quantitative analysis of plant flow and production levels to  implement new processes to streamline functionality and improve output
• Conduct market review and analysis to assist in creating and implementing a new sales action plan
• Conduct a labor force productivity analysis to maximize output by determining proper staffing levels and job assignments
• Conduct extensive secondary market research to locate and develop potential markets for raw materials produced in plant. 
• Perform cost analyses to evaluation production capacity

These are just a few areas where students will work with senior management to obtain 1^st hand insight and experience in this “green” industry while being empowered to make a “real” impact on the direction of the company.
