Our History Devens
Recycling Center LLC was founded in March of 2006. Our
founder, Kurt Macnamara, having spent the past 20 years in the Demolition industry
envisioned a modern day landfill where construction and demolition material would
be separated by commodity and reused as alternate products. Through several years
of extensive research and negotiations the dream became a reality. On November
15, 2006 we broke ground for what would become the largest construction and demolition
debris processing center in all of Massachusetts. Less than one year later we
proudly opened our doors for business on September 6, 2007.
Kurt Macnamara is no stranger to the construction and demolition
disposal industry. He is the owner of W.K. Macnamara Corporation,
a full-service demolition company that has been successfully operating
in the New England area for over 13 years. Kurt's commitment to
the environment and his active participation with various subcommittees
of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
laid the ground work for his newest venture here at Devens. In July
2006 the MA DEP instituted a waste ban for various construction
and demolition materials. This ban prohibits landfills from accepting
asphalt paving, brick, concrete, metal and wood.
Recycling
is no longer "just a nice thing to do" but an essential part of ensuring that
the environment we leave our children is cleaner and healthier for everyone. |
